About Showcase

Showcase is the year end celebration of the arts at the CVTheatre. Showcase has the largest number of students involved as its focus is on the performances of the 7 dance classes available at Chartiers Valley, including the Charvalettes and Majorettes and the nationally ranked Chartiers Valley Dance Troupe. Showcase also includes live musical performances by CVTheatre students in conjunction with dance numbers, performances by the acting classes and a musical selection from the high school musical. The technical aspects of Showcase have provided the technical crew the opportunity to work with advanced technologies such as, moving lights, a 40' X 25' LED video screen and dual digital cinema projectors.

Production history

Titled In Motion, Showcase was started by Renee Ann Keil in 1983 as a production to highlight the talents of the "C.V. Dance Ensemble". Showcase was performed every other year from 1983 until 1992 when it became an annual production. Now known as the Chartiers Valley Dance Troupe, they've continued to grow and have since become a nationally ranked sports team at the Chartiers Valley High School. Renee Ann Keil directed Showcase from 1983 until her retirement in 2007, after which Showcase and the CV Dance Troupe were taken over by Cathy Jenkins.

Showcase has a history of employing several CVTheatre alumni for technical direction and education. Mimi Exler has been designing the lighting for Showcase since 2006, bringing her experience from rock concerts tours like Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen.

In 2017, CVTheatre alumni Austin Pilz started the initiative to archive a complete history of all CVTheatre productions.
